La Bastide Oliver boasts an exceptional setting, the property is located in the Crau region, which is both protected and unique in France, made up of steppes with a huge range of flora and fauna. It’s the perfect place to go for a stroll. Offering varying climates and different types of terrain, the regions surrounding the Crau are also awe-inspiring and varied. In the west you’ll find la Camargue, the amazing watery land where you can discover on horseback the charms of the marshes, forests and rice fields. To the north les Alpilles rise up, a range of little mountains where you’ll enjoy hiking amongst rivers, canals, olive groves and outcrops of white rock. Lovers of urban tourism, however, will not be out of step. The region includes cultural, historical and architectural treasures. Just kilometres away lie some of the most beautiful villages in France like Baux de Provence or Saint Rémy de Servanne, or lose yourself in the old town of Arles, famous for its Roman and Romanesque buildings, in world heritage sites, such as les Arènes, or for its little Provençal streets. A dozen kilometres further away, discover Aix en Provence, capital of Provence, city of a thousand fountains, Avignon, its colour-filled festival and the majestic Popes’ palace, Marseille, the multi-cultural European capital of culture, or even Montpellier, with its exceptionally well-preserved city center. From a practical perspective, just minutes away you can find all the little shops you need for everyday living (supermarket, bakery, etc.) The local gastronomy, strong in flavour and in colour, will make its way onto your plate in any one of the numerous charming regional restaurants. Last but not least, leisure activities aren’t lacking in the area either, just a couple of minutes is enough time to reach the cinema, the terrace of a bar, the theatre or the golf club.
